HDBaseT: Designed for Interoperability

Sep 20, 2017 3:00:00 PM

HDBaseT has revolutionized the AV sector by converging video & audio, Ethernet, controls, USB and power over a single cable - what is known as the 5Play feature set.

The HDBaseT protocol ensures the exchange of features between devices over an HDBaseT link. This allows HDBaseT products – from the same or different manufacturers – to be interoperable vis-à-vis the features they share. Transparency regarding interoperability is one of the Alliance’s core goals, and we work closely together with members and installers to facilitate this discussion.

HDBaseT is, by definition and by design, an interoperable technology. Vendors that implement their products in compliance with the HDBaseT specifications will be interoperable. However, although HDBaseT enables 5Play, we allow certified vendors to decide which features to incorporate into their products. Thus, not every product is required to deliver all five features.

Find out the features supported by a product by reading the Product Manual, checking the vendor’s website for detailed specs, or by searching the HDBaseT Alliance list of Certified Products. The Certified Product List (also on GooglePlay & AppStore) is constantly updated, and products are lists according to the HDBaseT features for which they are certified.

Certified Product List gives Installers and integrators the tools to validate interoperability quickly and easily.
