HDBaseT is Just What the Doctor Ordered

HDBaseT has many applications. The technology can be found in homes, corporations, stadiums, universities, underwater, and very soon in your connected car, just to name a few. And in these sectors, HDBaseT can even be credited with improving quality, adding distance, minimizing cable & equipment clutter, and enabling interoperability.

HDBaseT’s ability to deliver Ultra-High-Definition 4K video and audio through a single cable, along with USB, Ethernet, control signals and up to 100 watts of power, is a game changer for many sectors. Whether in a train with limited space for cabling that requires real-time announcements on multiple displays, or in corporate offices that require digital interconnectivity anywhere and anytime, HDBaseT addresses requirements for connectivity in challenging environments.

A particularly challenging digital environment is a medical center operating room. There is zero tolerance for interruptions and delays as these can be life threating. A surgeon requires accuracy and precision. And true to this form, so does the imaging equipment in use. Surgeons need easy access to the equipment for proper functionality, and yet need to make sure that equipment and connectivity does not create a cumbersome work area.

HDBaseT technology delivers this need for precision. With near-zero latency transmission of high-definition content, surgeons receive reliable high-quality imaging. With the 5Play feature set, HDBaseT also minimizes cables for a more effective work area.

On November 13th-16th 2017, HDBaseT Alliance members will represent HDBaseT technology at the MEDICA conference & tradeshow in Düsseldorf, Germany:

NDS (Hall 10, G14): NDS will be launching a new integrated operating room network solution called VIMA, based on HDBaseT architecture and will also employ AJA’s RovoCam, an integrated UltraHD/HD Camera with HDBaseT. Visit their booth for VIMA and RovoCam demos and to learn more about HDBaseT solutions for modern operating rooms.

SILORA (Hall 8B, L39) SILORA will showcase their HDR 4K60 4:4:4 extender (“Best of Show” winner at InfoComm 2017). Such extenders are incorporated into the OR audio/visual infrastructure to support advanced medical imaging equipment with 4K 4:4:4 resolution.

For medical imaging to be effective, connectivity solutions must be integrated and guarantee near-zero latency, perfect quality, simple connectivity, and complete interoperability between various sources and displays. In an environment where time, accuracy, and utilization are so closely measured, HDBaseT is proud to be selected as a leading connectivity solution, and to make its contribution to the world of medicine.
